Our last day in Canada was right in the middle of a heat wave. In all our time around water here we were yet to get in the water for a swim. My cousin Joe had mentioned to me about tubing the Cowachin River and when I asked his sister, Carolyn about it she said she would be happy to take us.
We decided for an early run at it and got there right on opening. The deal is that you pay $20 each to hire a tube and spend 2-3hrs floating down the river. Included in the fee is the shuttle parked at the end to take you back to your car. Bargain! We were the first on the river and we had it all to ourselves more or less. What a way to spend our morning!
Floating down through the Cowachin Lake town and then into a less populated area dotted with river homes was spectacular. I could live here. We started the conversation as we always do about living in two countries. It doesn’t work unless you are flush with airmiles or cash. Doesn’t hurt to dream!

What a great way to cool off and I can tell you by the time we got back to our car there were many many many tubers making their way down the river. Get there early, that is my tip! Happy, refreshing way to round out our trip. Thank you Canada, once again I am a very happy traveller 😍🍁
